23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”
This verse was the core of my message last night. It’s amazing how so much can be gained from 1 simple quote. We’re all filthy stinking rich if you think about it.. the average global salary is $5,500 per year… that’s about three times less than what somebody making minimum wage earns if they work a 40 hour week.
Beyond finances though, we’re all rich with talents as well as time. But how do we use them? Take a snapshot of your three T’s (Time, Treasure, Talents) and next to each, write down how you’re using them for God. After all, He’s the one who gave them to you, right? Why wouldn’t you give back to Him in thanks?
If you have treasure, do you tithe? If you have a talent, do you use it for Him? If you have time, do you use it to glorify Him?
If not, then WHY not? Have you ever even thought of it like this before?
The reason it is hard for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God has NOTHING to do with money.. it has EVERYTHING to do with your heart. Is it set on God, or what you have?
It’s not what you have, but what you give. It’s not what you give, but how and why you give it.
Right now, make a list.. write down:
1 thing you can do to honor God with your treasure.
1 thing you can do to honor God with your time.
1 thing you can do to honor God with your talents.
Once you shift your mind into recognizing that it’s all FROM Him, you can start to realize that’s it all FOR Him. And once you realize it’s all FOR Him, you start to realize it’s all His anyways.
Give it back.
